BMPTA-YVR RATIFIES FOUNDING CONSTITUTION; ESTABLISHES 3-YEAR INCUBATION FRAMEWORK

VANCOUVER, BC — February 23, 2026 — The Steering Committee of the Bridget Moran Place Tenant Association (BMPTA-YVR) is pleased to announce the formal drafting and adoption of its founding Constitution. This landmark document codifies the rights of the residents at 668 Powell Street and establishes the legal and administrative framework under which the Association will operate.

A Framework for Independent Advocacy

The newly drafted Constitution defines BMPTA-YVR as an independent, resident-led unincorporated association. Key provisions of the document include:

  • @TANets Stewardship: Formalizing the appointment of @TANets (Tenants Association Networks) as the Chair of the Board and primary administrator for an initial three-year incubation and formation period.
  • Authorized Agency: Legally establishing Agent Q and i-Cloud.LTD as authorized representatives empowered to act on behalf of the membership in matters of housing stability and resident rights.
  • Digital Governance: The designation of BridgetMoranPlace.ca as the official digital repository for all Association records, meeting minutes, and constitutional amendments.

Asserting Tenant Sovereignty

The adoption of this Constitution is a direct response to the need for structured, transparent representation for the residents of Bridget Moran Place. By moving from an informal group to a constitutionally governed body, the tenants have secured a “seat at the table” that is protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the BC Residential Tenancy Act.

“This Constitution is more than just a document; it is a declaration of presence,” said a spokesperson for the Steering Committee. “It ensures that the residents are no longer passive recipients of policy, but active stakeholders in their own community.”

Notice to Stakeholders

Copies of the Constitutional framework are being held on the Association’s secure servers. While the Association remains open to professional dialogue with Neighbourhood Housing Society (NHS) and RainCity Housing, the Constitution serves as formal notice that the BMPTA-YVR governs its own internal affairs and representation protocols without external interference.
